About the Post
Gram Rozgar Sevak is not a regular job by the government. Its differed from an act known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. So according to this act there will be a Gram Rozgar Sevak in each and every panchayat of all over India where Panchayat Raj system existed will be appointed to execute all works related to MGNREGA.
Appointment of Gram Rozgar Sevak
The appointment process of Gram Rozgar Sevak(GRS) is as a regular government employee selected and appointed. But though its not a regular post there is no exam system existed in this job. At first when this post were created Gram Rozgar Sevak s were posted by the Sarapanches of the Gram Panchayat, later that process was changed and now District collector have the power to appoint GRS in all panchayats in his/her jurisdiction. At District level Collector and at Block Level Block Development Officers are Authority of Gram Rozgar Sevak.
Eligibility to become a Gram Rozgar Sevak GRS
Eligibility criteria for the appointment of Gram Rozgar Sevak varies from State to State and District to District but I will mention here the common eligibility criteria set by all government like
- Candidate must have passed 10th with higher percentage in that area
- Candidates Must have passed intermediate exam with higher percentage of marks
- Should have knowledge in computer application
- Must know local languages to work on field
Job Chart of a Gram Rozgar Sevak
The main purpose of the post of Gram Rozgar Sevak was to implement MGNREGS at GP level. But from time to time government have increased the pressure of work on them and have started to give more duty and mostly changed the recruitment name as Multi Purpose Assistant instead of Gram Rozgar Sevak GRS.
Conducting of Gram Sabha or Palli Sabha
As a Gram Rozgar Sevak you can call for Gram Sabha when panchayat Secretary or Executive is not available in the office. You have to do Palli Sabha’s in all the villages of that GP. When you will conduct a meeting you have the all power to resolve the problem of all people with your managing skill but its all depending on the situation and decision and the cooperation of government in that direction.
Old Age Pension Distribution
Except Gram Sabha or Palli Sabha you have to distribute Old Age Pensions to the all old age persons living in that panchayat. If Jogan Sahayaks are available in that GP and are free they can taken over this duty.
If there is any election like MLA, MP or Sarapanch going to happen then as per requirement you will have to serve that duty.
Disaster Management If there is any chance of Cyclone, Flood or Heavy Rain or any other crisis situation you have to remain present at the office. You have to evacuate the people if the situation become bad to worst. You cant leave your duty at that moment. As a Panchayat Raj Dept worker you have to activate your mind and body for 24*7.
Implementation of MGNREGS The main and most important job of Gram Rozgar Sevak is to implement MGNREGS work in the GP where she/he have been posted. Under MGNREGS he can make Roads, Ponds, Parks, Market Complex with help of JE and AE.
