Major Dhyan Chand was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on 29th August 1905. His fathers name was Subedar Sameswar Dutt Singh and his Mothers name was Sharada Singh. Dhyan Chand had two brothers Mool Singh and Rup Singh, Rup Singh also play hockey as like Dhyan Chand and he was a good hocky player.
Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award :
Indian Government awarded Dhyan Chand India’s third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan in the Year 1956, his birth day 29th August is also celebrated as National Sports Day every year. Finally Government of India in the year 2021 to give honour to the Hockey Legend have renamed the India’s highest sporting honour previously known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
